Welcome to Write on Bowen 2011
July 8 to 10, 2011
Artisan Square, Bowen Island
Join writers from all over the Lower Mainland for a series of intensive, interactive writing workshops, panel presentations, and other events. Bowen Island has been inspiring writers for almost a century. Maybe it's the beautiful natural surroundings or maybe it's the welcoming community that gets the creative juices flowing. Either way (or both!), Bowen Island is the place to be for aspiring and experienced writers on the weekend of July 8 to July 10.
Come spend the day or the whole weekend! All you need to bring is your notebook and your imagination!
Sponsored by the Bowen Island Arts Council, Write on Bowen! kicks off at 7:30 pm on Friday, July 8 at the Gallery @ Artisan Square with a very special presentation by award-winning writers Timothy Taylor and Annabel Lyon.
On Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10, you can choose from a wide range of exciting workshops and panel presentations. All our presenters are professional writers, editors, or publishers who want to help you improve your writing, increase your chances of getting published, and inspire you to keep writing!
Space is very limited so register early to save money and save your spot!
If you wish to stay for the weekend, check out the wonderful selection of bed and breakfast accommodations available on the island. But book early-spaces sell out fast.
ACCOMMODATION SPECIAL: Check out Bowen Lodge. They have availability and are offering special introductory rates.

A super festival - very well organized, a wide variety of topics. Thanks for providing writers and readers with such a wonderful event.
...lots of great information!!! The whole weekend was so very well organized and everyone was so friendly and helpful...a lovely weekend, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!
Elee Kraljii Gardiner put on such an AMAZING session. For me, this whole weekend was about putting the fun back into writing. Everyone did such a good job cultivating that for me, but she really took it to the next level. I want every writer on the planet to be in her sessions!!!
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and congratulate the committee on all their care and attention to detail. I felt warmly welcomed; easily found my way from the ferry, up the hill (by foot, by choice!), to the opening with Anthony, then to Sylvia's workshop, then to blue pencil with Elee, then to lunch, and finally back to the ferry via shops and ice cream!!
I thought the whole program was well organized, with good signage, name tags, efficient registration. The cost was also good for what I received. The venues were pleasant and well maintained. Overall a very good experience.
The presenters really knew 'their stuff'.
It was a very enjoyable and inspiring weekend. I look forward to attending next year. Thank you!
Artisan square is lovely, welcoming, colourful and relaxing. Organizers wonderful, helpful and fun.
